# How do I change the bot's settings?

Some settings may be restricted from modification while the bot is active. Typically, these settings or setting groups are indicated with a warning label:\

To adjust settings that cannot be changed while the bot is running, first ensure that the bot is stopped, and then attempt to modify the settings again.

#### Plugin and Macro settings

Similarly, most settings for plugins and macros cannot be altered while they are active, although the bot itself can remain running. To update plugin or macro settings, you should stop the respective plugin or macro first.
